What is SQL Server ?

Microsoft SQL Server is an Enterprise Database Management System (DBMS) from Microsoft designed to run on platforms ranges like laptops, desktops to large multiprocessor servers.

Mainly used as the back-end system for the websites and corporate CRMs
and can support thousands of concurrent/simultaneous users.

It is having a number of tools to help you with your database administration and programming tasks.

More robust and scalable than a desktop database management system such as MS Access. Although SQL Server can also be run as a desktop database system, it is most commonly used as a server database system.

SQL Server originally was a relational database engine and over time it has grown to include a number of new technologies.

SQL Server 2008 is the current version and it consists of the following components:

 •SQL Server Relational Engine
 •SQL Server Integration Services
 •SQL Server Reporting Services
 •SQL Server Analysis Services
